about

The new single ‘Movements’ was written with long-time Space Above collaborator and fellow New Zealander, Sam McCarthy aka Boyboy.

After an experience shared by the two during a time of earthquakes in Los Angeles, McCarthy was inspired to lyrically explore the fear, helplessness, and inevitable acceptance one goes through when overwhelmed by forces much greater than our own. These themes were expanded on musically as waves of ferocity and peace inside the songs electronic instrumentation and landscapes.

The music video by visual artist Anna Chocholi, takes these themes and presents the song in a world that is dark and jagged in nature, while leading us on a journey that is met with warmth and surrealism.

lyrics

(Try to breathe, catch your breath, feel it)

Feel the ground beneath begin to shake
Feel my heartbeat begin to race
Waiting for the floor to fall and break
Am I really gonna die this way?

(Gimme gimme hell, Gimme gimme hell)

Looking out, see everyone’s okay
No reaction, nothing out of place
Maybe nothing happened anyway
Well if I’m finally going crazy...

Gimme gimme hell
Gimme gimme hell
Gimme gimme hell
Gimme gimme hell

(Try to breathe, try to breathe again)

Try to breathe, try to breathe again
Catch a breath, feel it ease the pain
It’s enough to make it through the day
So when I feel another shake again
Gimme gimme hell
